We are delighted to unveil the 2012–13 season of Met Museum Presents, our newly renamed performing arts and talks series. This is the first season programmed by Concerts & Lectures General Manager Limor Tomer, who began working at the Met in July 2011. The video above certainly captures the new approach that the Met is taking toward performance at the Museum.
As singular artistic statements and critical entry points to the Met's collections, these events herald the fresh perspective that Limor brings to this important part of our work. Most important, this bold, innovative season has emerged directly from the creative dialogue that she has encouraged between curators and performers. It is a program that fuses the voices of people throughout the Museum with musicians and artists of all kinds. We hope it will excite audiences to explore the Met, to think broadly and carefully about what we have put on view, to take risks in an environment that many find intimidating, and to simply visit again and again.
