Candle Box
A superb example of painted decoration, the design of grapes and strawberries on this candle box is reduced to bold geometric shapes in symmetrical arrangement. The striking effect of the pattern is enhanced by the decorator's choice of a palette restricted to vivid red and green on a bright yellow ground.
