The abstract, sophisticated pattern and slightly shiny surface of this silk-and-cotton fabric made it appropriate for both rustic and urban interiors. In a 1905 photograph of Mark Twain and his wife playing cards in their well-furnished Hartford home, a large pillow covered with the nets-and-bubbles fabric is clearly visible.
