In New York City, the Central Park and Bronx Zoos were magnets for sculptors who wished to observe and sketch wild animals—whether native to North America or from other continents—in captive surroundings. These two tigers peering over the edge of a rock as if about to pounce on prey below were likely the result of Huntington’s regular trips to the Bronx Zoo.
