Plate

After a print by Joseph Wagner Italian
After a painting by Jacopo Amigoni Italian

Not on view

The scene on this plate appears to be free copy of an engraving by Joseph Wagner (1606–1780), of Jacopo Amigoni's painting "Aqua." In the engraving the scene is placed in a rural setting with architecture, there is no child, and the position of the man is reversed. However, the attitude of the woman and the presence of one or two details, makes the identification with Amigoni reasonable.
