Claude Lorrain: A study for the monument
This figure is part of a project presented by Rodin in April 1889 for the commission of the monument to the seventeenth-century French painter to be erected in the city of Nancy, France. Rodin received the commission and finished the monument, which is now in Pepinière Gardens in Nancy, in 1892.
