Fragment of a terracotta oinochoe (jug)
Attributed to the Cesnola Painter
ca. 750–740 B.C.
H. 6 9/16 in. (16.7 cm)
The Cesnola Collection, Purchased by subscription, 1874–76
Two metopes, each containing a horse tethered to a manger and a bird
The original vase probably would have been a close counterpart to 74.51.838. Both oinochoai are by the same artist as the fine pedestaled krater with lid, 74.51.965, on exhibition in the Belfer Court.
