Notre-Dame depuis le quai de la Tournelle

Eugène Atget French

Not on view

Atget likely avoided Notre Dame during his early career as it was already well documented by other photographers. In his old age, however, he worked more for his own pleasure and during the last five years of his life photographed the cathedral regularly. He always viewed it in an eccentric way—either in the distance, as here, or in detail.
