Relative of Black's darkroom assistant, Brown; [...]; [Lee Marks Fine Art, New York, March 17, 1987]; Gilman Paper Company Collection, New York
This print was part of the Black and Batchelder darkroom album which was acquired from a relative of Black's darkroom assistant, Brown. The album appeared in Pennsylvania around 1971-72 and was subsequently disassembled; a number of prints from it are now in the collection of the Boston Athenaeum. This photograph is dated c. 1860 because Charles D. Andrews was at 116 Washington St. between 1857-62. Black's studio was at 173 Washington in 1860.
