A renewed interest in the forms of classical art can be seen in Picasso's work in the 1930s, especially in the monumentality of the female nude. Here, the massive forms of the figures have been retained in a small-format print, their graceful poses expressed solely through the scratchy and irregular line of the drypoint needle.
