Krishna's Parents Search for Him

India

Not on view

Krishna's foster parents, Yashoda and Nanda search for him after he has jumped into the Yamuna River. The surrounding figures are cowherder friends with whom Krishna had been playing a ball game. Works in provincial versions of the Mughal style were probably made for the lesser Mughal nobility at court as well as for the Rajasthani feudatory rulers.
