Signature: Ke Jiusi first transcribes the text inscribed on Wen Tong's original: "The first day of winter in the jiyou year of the Xining reign era (1069), Wen Tong, Yuke of Ba Jun." In the second column Ke adds his own date and signature: "On the Duanwu festival of the guiwei year of the Zhizeng reign era (1343) Ke Jiusi, Danqiu made this copy; [3 artist's seals] Xixun; Ke shi Jingzhong' Yunzhen Zhai".
Inscription: The painting also bears two label strips:
Unidentified, 1 column in regular script: "Yuan [dynasty] Ke Jiusi's imitation of Wen [Tong] Yuke's bamboo branch".
Bi Long (act. late 18th c.), 2 columns in regular script: "A true [ink] trace of Yuan [dynasty] Ke [Jiusi] Danqiu's copy of Wen [Tong] Huzhou's pendant branch of bamboo; formerly in the collection of Liang [Qingbiao] Jiaocun of Zhending; an unsurpassed work of the divine category; [artist's seal] Bi Long jianshang".
