Star-Shaped Tile

Not on view

Eight pointed star tiles would originally have been part of much larger compositions with alternating star and cross shaped tiles, like a few panels exhibited in our galleries. The image on this tile is of a horse fully equiped with bridle, bit, saddle blanket, and saddle. Spotted horses occur frequently in works from Ilkhanid Iran.
