The arrival of the Mongols in Iran provided new ideas to further develop and change techniques and styles elaborated under the Seljuqs. Noticeable are the introduction and re-elaboration of new motives, such as soft, feathery leaves, lotus and peony flowers inspired by the Chinese repertoire.
