Double Cup

Caspar Beutmüller the Elder German

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 306

Caspar Beutmüller moved from Venice to Nuremberg in 1585, where he became a master goldsmith and a citizen of the city. He made this cup in about 1590-1600. He apparently kept it in his household until he sold and marked it three years before his death.
