Gold Signet Ring of Michael Zorianos

Byzantine

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 300

A Michael Zorianos was the first officer of the despot of Epiros in west-central Greece and one of the founders of a church in the town of Mokista sometime around the year 1300. Perhaps this ring belonged to him and was used to seal official documents.
