Vase

Designer Adelaide Alsop Robineau American

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774

Robineau used tiny molded test pots, like this example, to experiment with new glazes. She was so pleased with this vase that she carved for it a petite porcelain stand and cover, glazed to resemble carved wood or cast metal. Occasionally she offered the test pots for sale, with or without stands and covers.
