Relief fragment from the mortuary complex of Senwosret I

Middle Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 109

The reliefs from the sanctuary of the funerary temple of Senwosret I are remarkable for their very high relief and abundant painted detail. This fragment is part of the representations of food and floral offerings that occupied the upper registers of the walls.
