Inscription: Two character inscription, one underneath the other. The first is not identified, the second is probably Geng. Kümmel says (See Refs.) that the inscription is supposed to prove that the vessel was made for a member of the house of Qi in Shandong. He also says that the second character gêng was "one of the ten trees which were used as names in Shang and Zhou."
