Tall Clock

Joseph Ward American

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 749

The door of this rare japanned tall-case clock is remarkably well preserved. Its decoration, consisting of flowers, animals, and people situated in Far Eastern buildings and landscapes, is especially refined. The top and feet are modern replacements.
