Tall Clock
Aaron Willard, Jr., a Boston clock maker, made the works for this clock. His label inside the case door provides instructions for setting up and winding the clock. John Doggert, a carver, gilder, and cabinetmaker, who owned a furniture factory employing many cabinetmakers, carvers, and decorative painters, fabricated the clock case. The dial, depicting the 1812 capture of the British frigate "Guerriere" by the American frigate "Constitution," was probably made by either Spencer Nolen and Samuel Curtis (1807–20) or Samuel Curtis’s Manufactory (1824–ca. 1855). The clock has an eight-day rack and snail system.
