On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 743

Exhibiting one of the most surprising designs on all of Tiffany’s known enamelwork, this diminutive vase features dazzling bursts of abstract fiery red poppy blossoms on a nearly black ground. Its modest size belies the dramatic impact of the vase, which Tiffany illustrated in a color plate of the sumptuous publication celebrating his oeuvre, The Art Work of Louis C. Tiffany, published in 1914.
