The galleries for Chinese painting and calligraphy are comprised of seven separate rooms (Gallery 210 through Gallery 216), including the Douglas Dillon Galleries, the C. C. Wang Gallery, and the Frances Young Tang Gallery. Together these rooms constitute the largest permanent space for the display of Chinese painting and related arts outside Asia and house one of the world's finest collections of its kind, with works ranging in date from the eighth century to the present.
Due to the light sensitivity of works on silk and paper, displays are regularly rotated to feature either special loan exhibitions or thematic installations that highlight different aspects of the collection.
