The largest of the galleries at The Cloisters, the Late Gothic Hall houses German, Spanish, and Italian paintings and sculpture of the later fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, most of which came from large dismantled altarpieces.
The many outstanding works include the Three Kings from the abbey at Lichtenthal, near Baden-Baden, two sculptures by Tilman Riemenschneider, and the 1434 marble altarpiece by Andrea da Giona. Under the four flamboyant Gothic windows from Soissons is a large tapestry hanging representing "Christ is Born as Man's Redeemer."
