This study gallery displays Middle Kingdom (ca. 2010–1640 B.C.) objects from the Museum's excavations in an open-storage system, as well as cases containing objects that came to the Museum from private collections. The different nature of the two categories is worth a moment's reflection: excavated objects come with a context but are often only accessible after much scholarly work; pieces from private collections were chosen for their direct appeal.
Note: This gallery is temporarily closed to the public due to a construction project beneath the Egyptian galleries. Visitors to the Museum may inquire at the Information Desk in the Great Hall for more information.
