Reliefs from the tombs of the treasurer Khety and the vizier Dagi on view in this room continue the display of works from Egypt's revival after the disintegration of the Old Kingdom. They are joined by the private papers of Heqanakht (ca. 1954 B.C.), translations of which are provided. This ancient landowner comes across as a "hectoring old man" (Winlock) in these remarkable letters from four thousand years ago excavated by the Museum in 1921–22.
