The display encompasses the extraordinary jewelry of princess Sithathoryunet (who died during the reign of Amenemhat III, ca. 1859–1813 B.C.), the imposing sphinx of King Senwosret III (ca. 1878–1840 B.C.), and other images of Middle Kingdom kings, queens, and courtiers. A case at the gallery's north end contains jewelry from the time of the Hyksos (ca. 1648–1540 B.C.), kings with Semitic names who ruled northern Egypt from their power base in the northeastern Delta.
