Objects from the burials of Senenmut—the most important official of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut (ca. 1479–1458 B.C.)—and his family present a fine view of life in ancient Egypt during her reign. Especially noteworthy are the various containers of cosmetics, fruits, and other commodities. Of interest are also the foundation deposits excavated in the temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri. They include many types of tools, containers of sacred oils, and magical implements.
