Unlike his fellow Impressionists Monet, Pissarro, and Sisley, who concentrated on landscape, Auguste Renoir was primarily a figure painter. This gallery displays several of Renoir's most celebrated portraits and genre paintings, most notably, Madame Charpentier and Her Children, which was purchased by the Museum in 1907.
Also featured in this room are works by Renoir's contemporaries: Berthe Morisot, Alfred Sisley, and Henri Fantin-Latour.
This gallery is one of nine that comprise The Annenberg Galleries.
