The Museum's finest examples of eighteenth-century Italian furniture and porcelain are on view in this gallery. Works include examples of Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical furniture that reflect the distinctive stylistic changes that occurred in the course of the 1700s, as well as numerous pieces of porcelain from factories such as Vezzi, Doccia, Capodimonte, Cozzi, and Nove. The Met's holdings of Italian porcelain from this period are extremely strong and include superb examples of figures produced at Capodimonte that are considered among the greatest pieces of eighteenth-century ceramic sculpture.
