The Lawrence A. and Barbara Fleishman Gallery of Late Medieval Secular Art displays a range of works. Ivory caskets, mirror cases, a gaming board and chess pieces, ceramics, and glass give a sense of the kinds and quality of objects one might find in a wealthy medieval household. Among its highlights are a rare ceremonial saddle decorated with scenes of courtship, and the painted cover of an account book commissioned by the commune of Siena, which depicts civic administrators at work.
