While works by Henri Matisse are displayed in various areas of the Museum, the focus in this gallery is on the artist's sculpture, as well as paintings from his Nice period. The Three O'Clock Sitting features several elements that are typical of the artist's work from the 1920s: boldly patterned wallpaper, elaborately pierced and appliquéd textiles of North African origin, and an alluring view of palm trees and the Mediterranean Sea outside the studio window.
