This large gallery contains paintings by Clyfford Still, one of the foremost painters associated with the American Abstract Expressionist movement, although the fiercely independent Still disavowed any relationship to a particular school or group.
Made between 1943 and 1977, the paintings are thoroughly nonrepresentational, but their jagged, torn forms, often delineated with a palette knife, suggest craggy summits, stormy skies, or surging tidal waves.
