Exhibitions:
The Netherlandish and German paintings of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries on view in this gallery demonstrate the remarkably naturalistic effects and great luminosity that artists of the Northern Renaissance achieved by mixing ground pigments with oil.
In Petrus Christus' Goldsmith in his Shop, for example, we see finely wrought details of goldsmiths' work in what appears to be a vocational painting or a genre scene.
This gallery also displays several examples of bronze aquamanilia, water vessels that were used for hand washing in both religious and secular contexts.
