The architectural woodwork in this room demonstrates the retention of traditional Netherlandish building practices in communities of Dutch descent in late colonial New York and New Jersey. This main chamber comes from a house built in 1751 for Daniel Pieter Winne (1720–1800), whose ancestors came to Rensselaerwyck (present-day Albany County) in 1643 from Flanders via Curaçao.
Furnished as a gallery, this room includes a variety of forms of furniture, metalwork, and ceramics distinctive to New York households of Dutch heritage.
