Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1959) can be counted among the truly great architects of the twentieth century. This installation provides Museum visitors with the only opportunity to experience a Wright-designed domestic space in New York City. It was originally the living room in the Prairie-style lake house in Wayzata, Minnesota, created for Mr. and Mrs. Francis W. Little. The room served both as a family gathering place and as an informal concert hall. It is a light-filled pavilion, in which the division between interior and exterior has been minimized. The oak furniture was all designed by Wright and is installed following a floor plan made by the architect and a photograph of the room published in 1942.
