The black wool ground fabric sets off the brightly colored pieced blocks of this quilt. It has a maroon and beige inner border and a plain black outer border that is quilted with fiddlehead fern motifs. The plain black blocks that alternate with the pieced blocks are quilted with feather wreaths. The backing is of a blue cotton fabric.
