The little cow mark has been traditionally dated "ca. 1733-1775" on the combined evidence of an export mark (not described) registered in August 1733 and its appearance, according to Jacques Helft (verbally), on silver bearing the 1732-38 charge mark. The dates 1764-74 are given by Michèle Bimbenet-Privat in La Datation de l'orfèvrerie parisienne sous l'ancien régime, Paris, 1995.
