This beaker and saucer were part of a tea and chocolate service given to Vittorio Amadeo II, King of Sardinia (1666-1732) by Augustus the Strong, the Elector of Saxony, under whose patronage the Meissen factory was established.
Marking:  Monogram AR (in underglaze blue on underside)
 Two dots (pricked in paste under glaze on underside of beaker; former's mark for Küttel)
Possibly Private Collection , Austria ; [ Alex Ball , New York, before 1954; sold to Mr. Wilson ] ; R. Thornton Wilson (until 1954; to MMA)
