  • Description

Excavated 1903 in a tomb near the villa at Agia Triadha, Crete.

The "Agia Triadha Sarcophagus" was the most expensive reproduction ever made by the Gillierons. Evans commissioned one painted by Gillieron, fils and complained at its expense to which Gillieron responded that it was very time consuming to do. Its complex scenes contain a wealth of information about the ritual worship of the dead on Crete at the end of the Late Bronze Age.

The original is in the Archaeological Museum of Herakleion, Crete.
