These rectangular silk textile fragments are decorated with a repeat pattern of accurately rendered purple irises and daisylike flowers, all set against a shimmering gilt background. The texture and detailing of the irises is particularly naturalistic, and the overall realism and elegance of the work suggest a master weaver working from a well-conceived cartoon.
