This unmounted salt print is one of a group that Baldus apparently gave or sold to Léon Bourquelot, an architect in the Agence de l'Architecte du Louvre who coordinated the production of Baldus's multi-volume albums on the construction of the New Louvre. This image was included in an album showing views along the route of the Chemin de Fer du Nord which was presented by Baron James de Rothschild to Queen Victoria in 1855. It is plate no. 8 in the more common Chemin de Fer du Nord album (CCA, IMP/GEH, BN, Jammes) [MD/12-90]
