The symposium "Truth, Lies, and Photographs" was presented in conjunction with the exhibition Faking It: Manipulated Photography before Photoshop, on view October 11, 2012, through January 27, 2013. In this talk, Artist Nancy Davenport discusses her artwork, including The Apartments, a series of photographs whose interpretation changed after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Davenport's artwork includes screensavers, animations, and manipulated photographs.

The lot of eleven photographs (28.128.1–.11) was originally given to the Museum by Stieglitz as an "Anonymous Gift". In 1933, the credit line was changed to: "Alfred Stieglitz Collection".
