    The salt is in three tiers; when separated, the lower and middle tiers display small wells for the salt. The cover contains a caster for dried herbs or spices.

    Marking: [1] leopard's head (London assay office mark);
    [2] lion passant (London assay office mark);
    [3] gothic C in pointed shield (date letter for 1600–1601);
    [4] TS monogram in pointed shield (unidentified maker's mark);

    [1]-[4] across middle section of (a) and (b) (badly rubbed);
    [4] on (c) inside dome
