    Inscription: Lower right in brown ink: W V velde d J fecit 1667
    at lower left in pen and brown ink: d kortisaen
    at upper right in pen and black ink: d kortisaen 1667
    at upper left in pen and brown ink: bij de Raffe gemaeckt
    According to M.S.Robinson the faint inscription in black chalk at the upper left corner, "de kortis . . .", is probably by the hand of William van de Velde the Elder.
