Sake Bottle with Decoration of Three-Leaf Arrowhead

Japan

Not on view

The upper section of this sake bottle is completely coated with copper green glaze, while the design of water plants (omodaka) and reeds is painted in iron washes. The most characteristic feature of the Oribe style seen on this bottle is the thick single drip of glaze, with a rounded drop at the end that boldly flows down the body of the vessel.
