A mahasiddha is one of the famed Indian eccentric yogic practitioners of Tantrism so revered in the Tibetan Vajrayana tradition. In Tibet they were instrumental in introducing the meditation system perfected by the Dzogchen masters of the Nyingma Order, the oldest monastic order in Tibet, founded in the eighth century.
