The Image Library

The Museum produces a range of printed, audiovisual, and electronic materials, including packaged resource sets for classroom use. Teachers may acquire these sets in one of the following ways:

Email teach.resources@metmuseum.org to request a complimentary copy available to every New York City public school. See a list of all available teacher resource sets.
Borrow them from Nolen Library in the Museum's Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education.
Download many of these publications for educators.
Purchase them from the Museum Shop, by phone (1-800-662-3397), or online. Museum Members receive a discount when ordering over the phone or online. An educational discount is available when purchasing in the Museum Shop. Present a valid school ID to receive this discount.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art also conducts a rich variety of programs for elementary and secondary school educators. These workshops introduce participants to works of art in the Museum's collection and explore related interdisciplinary teaching methods. Get an overview of these programs, or consult the calendar for times and dates of upcoming programs.

Teachers are also invited to make an appointment to visit the Museum—or The Cloisters, the Museum's branch devoted to the art of medieval Europe—with their classes for a staff-guided or self-guided tour or series of tours. All fees are waived for schools located within the five boroughs of New York City. Classes with special needs are welcome; programs are designed with the specific needs of these students in mind. Get more information about school group visits in the main building or about educational programs at The Cloisters.
