About 2000 years ago the city of Vienne sprang up on the banks of
the Rhone. It contended with Lyon for the honor of possessing the
most impressive monuments in the Gallo-Roman world. These past splendors
are restored on this website, where you can see the buildings that
still exist and those long since disappeared, and understand their
architecture and purpose. |
