Stefano Casciu, Soprintendente per i Beni Storici, Artistici ed Etnoantropologici di Modena e Reggio Emilia, discusses the effect of the May 2012 earthquake on the artistic heritage of Modena, Italy. In the wake of building collapses, art historians and conservators salvaged as many works of art as possible, many of which are currently being restored.
